About Ilha Grande
Located in the municipality of Angra dos Reis, in Rio de Janeiro, the island of Ilha Grande was elected the second wonder of the state, only behind the Sugarloaf Hill. With amazing sceneries and transparent waters, the Grande Island is a popular region among those wanting to break the monotony and rest in a paradise abounding in stories to tell. After many attacks of pirates, it housed prisons (inactive today) that originated several legends that make the tour even more interesting.
Besides its beautiful beaches and diving sites, the hiking trails and waterfalls are very sought after by those wanting to thrill in radical sports. Many boats stop at the Grande Island to enjoy a sunny day and the nightlife in the Abraão Village – the small tourism centre of the island.
